Hey, you deserve to eat today even if you didn’t workout.
Unfortunately, I think this is a common thought. “I didn’t workout today, so I definitely shouldn’t eat as much as I do on workout days. Definitely not as many carbs!”
Did you know that on rest days your body repairs allll the damage done to your muscles to rebuild them? In order for this to happen, we have to feed our muscles, aka eat calories!
If you aren’t eating enough to supply the needed fuel for the muscle to repair themselves, then our muscles are never recovering. Therefore we are constantly fatigued, sore, and plateauing in our strength and workout gains!
If you have been consistently thinking on rest days that you need to eat less or eat less carbs, let’s think differently. Focus on your diet during your rest day as preparing your body for the workout you will have the next day.
Eat protein, carbs, and fat with eat meal.
Drink at least 80 oz of water.
Have a green veggie with each meal.
Try to stay away from alcohol. It breaks muscle down instead of building them up.
Focus on getting 10k steps throughout the day.
Relax, take an epsom salt bath, read a book, etc.
Get at least 7 hours of sleep. The more the better!
Learn to enjoy your rest day, focus on recovering, and eat whole foods!
