We were living in Wyoming at the time and my husband knew I was super bored with the traditional workouts I was doing. He was out running errands one day and stopped by the local box to check it out. He came home and told me all about it and it sparked an interest so I did some research. It took me a while to work up the courage to join, but once I did I regretted waiting so long.
It was intimidating at first and I had to scale almost everything. But, the community was awesome and that lit a fire in me to keep coming back and keep trying. Hard work and dedication pays off. I’m no longer intimidated by the workouts (well, most of the time anyway) and I realize now that scaling isn’t a bad thing, I still do it frequently. When you’re just starting out, it’s so easy to look at some of the CrossFit movements as impossible and something that will never be achieved, but over time, the small victories and PR’s come and then you look back and think WOW! I’ve come a long way! There’s been quite a few but the happiest moment had to have been getting my first ring muscle up! I’m currently working on additional strength training while cleaning up my diet a bit. I would just like to look like I work out once in a while, oh, and squat heavy weight ;) It’s just a great community and I’m lucky to have made some lifetime friendships here.
