Sasha is new to CrossFit, but was introduced to weight training at a very young age watching her father compete in powerlifting competitions. Growing up in that environment made an impression on her, as she has remained active throughout her life participating in various sports and fitness activities.

She’s always had an interest in healthy living in general, and became a Certified Group Exercise instructor in 2012. She has taught various classes that include boot camps and Pilates. Her passion to help others reach their individual goals ultimately led her to get her Personal Fitness Trainer certification.

Outside of personal training and teaching classes Sasha is the Co-owner of Buff Bites – Fit Bakery. Both she and her business partner wanted to create a way to enjoy sweet treats while staying on track with their fitness goals, and through this, Buff Bites was born!

In addition to loving everything related to healthy living, Sasha enjoys cooking, knitting, traveling and spending time with her husband Dan and children Emma and Brody.

Jeramy was a Flight Paramedic with 12 years of service in the Air Force. While in the military he received his CrossFit Level 1 and USAW Sports Performance coaching certifications. He began coaching at a Military affiliate in his free time and continued to coach even while deployed abroad. Jeramy separated from the Air Force in 2015 and is now the Head Coach at CrossFit Unknown Element.  

In addition to loving everything fitness, Jeramy is a father of two and is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys everything from hunting and fishing, to camping and rock climbing.

Coach - Sherrie Nymeyer

Sherrie is working as a Mechanical Engineer for the Air Force for the past 10 years. Within the last two years, she received her CrossFit Level 1 and USAW Sports Performance coaching certifications. She underwent a coaching internship at CrossFit Unknown Element before becoming a part-time coach.

Sherrie has one child, two dogs, one cat and a full house. When she isn’t training in her favorite activity (Olympic weightlifting), she enjoys watching her daughter perform, reading, playing board/video/card games, movie watching, camping, and rock climbing. A few of the activities Sherrie does to stay involved in the community are Relay for Life fundraising (Bark for Life), being a school district volunteer, and being an annual Eastern NM Regional Science Fair Judge.

Coach - Casey Sweeney

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Casey has been doing CrossFit for a little over 3 years. He played hockey and other sports growing up, but didn't find CrossFit until he was in college. A couple of his really close friends were very competitive and involved at the gym there. Casey was immediately intrigued and it didn’t take long for him to become completely hooked! Since then he has been moved around by the Air Force, and found a CrossFit box everywhere he has been. Some of his closest friends have been people he has met at boxes in various states. Since starting CrossFit it has become a bigger and more important part of his life. He loves how quickly you can become a part of a box and feel like part of the family, no matter where you are from!

Casey just recently joined us here at CrossFit Unknown Element in February of 2017. Outside of the box Casey is in the Air Force, loves riding his motorcycle, playing any kind of sport, and spending time with his puppy!

Sam has always been active in sports and fitness. She began traditional bodybuilding in high school, but after a while was left wanting something different. Sam then found her love of CrossFit in 2014 during her sophomore year of college. The community and intense workouts have kept her coming back ever since. Sam graduated in 2016 with her Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Fitness. She started off in her career as a personal trainer and teaching group fitness classes. Shortly after, she began her internship at CFUE to transition to coaching.

Sam also enjoys traveling, hiking, cuddling her dog, and spending time with family.

Coach – Andre Hamm

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

Andre came to CrossFit inadvertently in 2011 as a consequence of a post-yoga dinner conversation about nutrition while based overseas. He still remembers his trial WOD shortly thereafter & how it fundamentally blew out of the water every activity he'd ever undertaken since rowing & mountain biking as a student.  What truly amazed him about CrossFit at that time though continues to do so to this day: the extraordinary character, ability & encouragement shown over the course of each workout by the member athletes as well as coaches.  

Andre grew up in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains in Southern California where he discovered his abiding love of hiking & the outdoors in the surrounding canyons & arroyos.  Introduced to the richness of competition & sportsmanship via Little League & AYSO, his first athletic passion was cross country after watching a documentary on African long distance runners in the 6th grade, and if anything can make his day it's a CrossFit metcon with a running component (even in the wind & rain). 

During his time away from the box Andre keeps busy managing the real estate investments of his family's business, reading across a wide spectrum of subjects, and helping his black lab gain a richer understanding of the concept of time (we're making progress).

Stacey Pomeroy

Stacey started teaching at a children’s ski school when she was 17. She became a certified Professional Ski Instructor of America (PSIA-1) and taught for many years in California and Utah. After starting a family and moving far from snow, Stacey by chance met a CrossFit coach that would change her life. Instantly in love with CrossFit, Stacey looked for a way to introduce her young children to her new favorite pastime and found CrossFit Kids.  She attended the CrossFit Kids and CrossFit Level 1 in 2015 while living in Germany. She started CrossFit Kids programs in Germany and California before coming to CrossFit Unknown Element in New Mexico. Stacey loves encouraging children to enjoy fitness and hopes to help kids develop a lifelong love of movement through CrossFit Kids.

Joe recently retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service where he worked as an IT specialist.  For many years he’s been an avid athlete and sports enthusiast in various disciplines such as rock climbing, distance running, cycling, and triathlon.  Along with his wife, he joined the ranks of CrossFit in the fall of 2016.  Receiving his Level 1 in May 2018 he spends lots of his free time at Crossfit Unknown Element learning and growing as an athlete and coach.  His only regret is that he didn’t jump on the CrossFit bandwagon sooner.

Greg was an Air Transportation Craftsmen in the United States Air Force for 7 years. He currently serves as an Air Force reservist as well. While serving multiple deployments, he received his CrossFit Level 1 Certification along with multiple ISSA certifications. He began his coaching career as a personal trainer at Cannon Air Force base that transitioned over to CrossFit coaching once he received his CrossFit level 1 Certification. Greg then opened CrossFit Unknown Element in February 2014. He could not have done it without the help of many friends and family supporting him. Greg also enjoys going to school full time to increase his knowledge.

Coach - Ashley Impey

Ashley is originally from North Carolina where her interest in Crossfit began. She has participated in sports such as soccer, volleyball, and basketball, since the age of 10. In 2012, she was on the path to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree when she was introduced to the sport of Crossfit. Ashley then met her husband in 2014, who is in the military, which brought her to New Mexico. Ashley immediately joined Crossfit Unknown Element within days of moving. After being involved in the Unknown Element community, she wanted to broaden her involvement with the gym by becoming a coach. Her goal as coach is simple – to ensure you leave the gym a better version of yourself, whether it be in fitness or life.

Coach - Melissa Hardin

Missy Hardin

CrossFit Level 1 Coach

Melissa came to CrossFit the summer of 2017, after looking for something to change up her fitness routine. After her intro to the gym, and her first class, she was hooked on everything CFUE.  CFUE offered just the right atmosphere to encourage her fitness and increase her confidence.  After judging the Open for CFUE athletes, she decided to go for her Level 1.  Working through CFUE’s Advanced Theory Course, Melissa tested for and obtained her L1 certification July 2018.  

In addition to her love of CrossFit, Melissa is a wife, mother of two, and the Social Work Program Director at Eastern New Mexico University.  She is currently in the dissertation phase of her doctorate, set for completion November 2018.  When she can find time, Melissa loves to travel, finding fun new destinations to check out.
