Program Description and Mission
CrossFit Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit; it is entirely and absolutely CrossFit, designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of a child (including bone density and vestibular function). CrossFit Kids combines gymnastics, body- weight calisthenics, and weightlifting elements to build and improve capacity across ten general physical skills:
- Endurance (cardiovascular and respiratory)
At CrossFit Unknown Element, we use BIG (broad, inclusive, and general) FUN and play- based learning to teach proper form and mechanics related to functional and athletic movement. Our intent with this program is to prepare our CrossFit Kids for the demands of everyday life, while instilling in them a love for health and fitness. Just like our adult classes, CrossFit Kids instruction will be personalized for each child so everyone can expect to be rewarded and challenged at his or her ability level.
Coach Stacey Pomeroy leads the CrossFit Kids program. Each class includes a dynamic warm up, skill development time, a workout, and best of all...a game! Each class is approximately 40 minutes long, and all kids ages 7-12 are welcome.
